2016-2017 Academic year

We begin 2016-2017 academic year in March, we have 32 students and 8 teachers. We have 7 projects, such as Chin Children Story Book, Dancing and Body Image , Song for Social Change, Alcohol awareness, Recycle-ling and Art and Chin land-herald and Rights Watch. Term one is ended in June 3rd, we have 2 weeks breaks. Term two will begin in June 18th.

We got that B-roll

Well, the students have the B-roll. Over the last two weeks, all the CISS students have been working on short ~10-minute documentary films on a topic of their choice as part of a joint project between the Digital Media class and Global Citizenship. It’s been a busy week of shooting, editing, and most importantly learning; all the documentaries should be ready by Friday night, where they will be shown instead of our normal Hollywood feature at movie night. The videos will be posted to our website in about a weeks time, from somewhere with real internet.

The cameras and editing computer were graciously provided by a grant from the Princeton in Asia Carriebright fellowship.

CISS Update team and Landslide news

The students of CISS have really stepped up their involvement with the community this week. Starting on Saturday, the digital media class has been out in town collecting information relating to the landslides and commodity shortages caused by they damaged road to Kalay-myo. We have been trying to post updates to the Chinland Herald website as much as can be expected with the slow and unreliable connection in Falam.
